Loyd Russel Spurgeon, age 73, of Moulton, Iowa, died Monday, November 16, 2015 at his home near Moulton. He was born the son of Loyd Dewire and Isabelle (McKenzie) Spurgeon on July 5, 1942 near Moulton, Iowa in Davis County. He graduated from the Moulton Community High School.On January 9, 1971, Russel was united in marriage to Betty Probasco in Moulton, Iowa. Russel entered the Army in July of 1942 and was honorably discharged in April of 1966. He worked over 37 years at John Deere Ottumwa Works in Ottumwa, Iowa. He was member of the Moulton American Legion in Moulton, Iowa.He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Betty Spurgeon on March 10, 2013; brothers, Loren Spurgeon and Lee Spurgeon on November 13, 2015.His is survived by: his brothers, Richard Spurgeon and his wife, Joyce of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Roy Spurgeon and his wife, Vicki of Centerville, Iowa and Lyle Spurgeon and his wife, Joyce of Drakesville, Iowa; a sister, Eloise Burns and her husband, Raymond of Moulton, Iowa; and a sister-in-law, Rowena Spurgeon of Des Moines, Iowa.No services are planned at this time.
