Kin Gillaspy's Obituary
Kin Lee Gillaspy 'King Fish', 54 of Chariton, passed away on December 23, 2017 at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Kin Lee was born to Albert "Joe" and Nancy (Bellon) Gillaspy in Chariton, Iowa on February 12, 1963. He attended and graduated from Chariton High School with the class of 1982. Kin was married to Michelle (McKnight) Gillaspy on August 21, 1992 and to this union two children were born, Steven Lee and Samantha Hope. Kin worked for the family business, Gillaspy Tractor Salvage, starting as a young teenager working for his grandpa Frank, his father Joe and then his brother Alan until his sickness made him unable to work. He also liked to work on his neighbors' tractors and combines in his spare time. Kin enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He loved to camp and most weekends were spent at Red Haw State Park. Kin never grew out of being a child; he loved to watch cartoons, Mash and the Big Bang Theory, as well as watching football with his wife. Kin was an ornery guy; he loved to pick on everyone. Kin never knew a stranger. He will be missed by many. Kin is survived by his wife Michelle, son Steven Gillaspy (Dolly), daughter Samantha Gillaspy, grandchildren Mae Lily and Melvin , father Albert "Joe", brother Alan Gillaspy (Brenda), sisters Tina Gillaspy-Hampton and Tonya Chambers (Warren), step brothers Michael Bolling (Lynn) and Lee Bob Bolling (Renea), step sister Missy Davis, parents-in-law Gene and Kathy McKnight, brother-in-law Ryan McKnight, grandmas-in-law Kay England and Helen McKnight, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, many friends, and of course his favorite pal Teddy. Kin is preceded in death by his mother Nancy (Bellon) Gillaspy, step mother Kay (Miner) Gillaspy, nephew Jeffery Chambers, grandparents John and Twila Bellon and Frank and Bea Gillaspy, and grandparents-in-law Byron England and Dale McKnight. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on January 7, 2018 at the Williamson Community Center in Williamson, Iowa from 2-5 PM. Memorials may be given to the Family.
