Kim Krome's Obituary
Jung-Ya (Kim) Krome "Kim", 80, of Corydon, Iowa passed away at her home on February 14, 2018 with her husband by her side. Kim was born on December 6, 1937 in South Korea to Geum-ye Lee and Eung-deok Kim. Kim came from South Korea to Iowa in November of 1963 to visit a Korean friend who had married an American GI. This is where she met William Allen Krome. She and William went on a blind date in February of 1964 in Shenandoah, Iowa. They married soon after on March 25, 1964. They became parents of a son William Scott on April 24, 1968. Kim was a wonderful wife and a great mother. Her family enjoyed her amazing cooking. She was also very athletic and ran in many 10K runs, the Dam-to-Dam in Des Moines several times and a couple of marathons. She loved to golf and was very good at it. She was a member of the Corydon Ladies golf league and a member of Saint Francis Catholic Church in Corydon. She was a devoted Catholic as her great grandfather was a martyr for the Catholic Church. Kim worked several years in the Wayne Community Elementary School lunch room. Kim is survived by her husband Allen Krome, son Scott Krome (Kirby), two grandsons: Jimi Chin and Cooper Allen, granddaughter Kimberlee Marie, and step grandchildren: Christopher, Jacob, Natalia and Logan. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church in Corydon. Father Felix Onuora will be officiating the service. Visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass. Interment will be at a later date at Corydon Cemetery.
