Kenneth Ray McCart's Obituary
Kenneth Ray McCart was born October 24, 1931 and passed away July 17, 2025 in his own home at the age of 93.
Kenneth was born on his family farm south east of Humeston to Elmer and Donna (Carlson) McCart. He attended Humeston School system and then served in the Army from 1952 to 1954. He worked at Quarry in Eastern Iowa before moving back to Corydon to work for Clayton Plumbing and Heating. Kenneth started farming in 1968 south of Cambria and farmed until 1978 when he started as a rural mail carrier which continued for 25 years.
Kenneth met Carolyn Adams and they were married on January 9, 1976. Kenneth had three children; Doug, Neal and Brenda. When Carolyn joined the family, her three children, Greg, Randy, and Mark joined to make six.
Kenneth was a dedicated father who enjoyed his family greatly. He was one of the good guys. He was an active member of the Christian Church, Corydon American Legion and a lifetime member of the VFW.
After Kenneth retired, he enjoyed working on the yard, planting trees and fishing with his grandchildren. A bonfire usually followed these special days. His pets, both cats and dogs, have always been important to him.
Kenneth is survived by his beloved wife Carolyn of almost 50 years; children, Doug (Judy) McCart, Neal (Dorene) McCart, Brenda (Darwin) Foster, Randy (Sheila) Adams, Mark (Jamie) Adams; brother, Don McCart; sister, Janice Bishop; sister-in-law, Janice McCart; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Donna McCart; brothers, Deryl McCart and Edmond McCart and sister-in-law's, Vivian and Bonnie McCart; brother-in-law, Bob Bishop and son, Greg Adams.
Visitation for Kenneth will be held July 22,2025 at Thomas Funeral home in Corydon, Iowa from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A private service for the family will be held at a later date. Memorials in honor of Kenneth may be made to Prairie Trails Museum or EveryStep Hospice and mailed to Thomas Funeral Home Attn: McCart Family 303 E. Jefferson Corydon, IA 50060.
