Kenneth M. Hinton's Obituary
Kenneth Hinton, age 85 of Moravia died Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
He was born in Troy Township in Monroe County, the son of Wyatt Walter and Jennie Myrtle Gholsen Hinton. Kenneth married Berniece Van Dorin Wilson on July 4, 1977 at the First Christian Church in Albia, Iowa. He graduated from Albia High School and farmed his entire life. Through the years he had dairy cows, raised chickens and pigs, as well as row crop. Kenneth had been President of the Troy Township School Board, President of Monroe County Board of Education, Board of Director of Area XV, President of Monroe County Farm Bureau-twice, President of Moravia Farm Service-twice, and a member, as well as past president, of the Ruritans. He also was a member of the First Christian Church, served on the church board as a Deacon or Elder from 1952 until 1985 and served as Chairman of the board-twice.
Surviving is his wife Berniece of Moravia, daughter Libby (Bob) Funnell of Georgia, step-children, Sheila (Sam) Kirby of Moravia, Carol (Steve) Dishman of Pella, Larry (Diane Shannon) Wilson of Iowa City, Donna (Dennis) Jackson of Centerville, Mark Wilson of Moravia, seven grandchildren Frances and Rob Gilliam of Kennesaw, GA, Jeff (Kristy) Kirby, Sigourney, IA, Joni (Kris) Hutchinson, Bondurant, IA, Jennifer Argo (Murat Tungar) of Independence, MO, Brad Argo of Des Moines, Amanda Bell of Des Moines, Josh Bell of Des Moines, three step-grandchildren Heather Dishman of Des Moines Samantha Dishman of Des Moines, Shannon Jackson of Centerville, IA, seven great-grandchildren, Mathew Gilliam, Taylor Kirby, Ethan Kirby, Landon Kirby, Morgan Kirby, Emma Hutchinson, and Ava Hutchinson.
Preceded in death by his parents, a brother Harold Hinton, his first wife Phyllis, and stepdaughter Diane Wilson.
