Kenneth Gene Heriford's Obituary
Kenneth (Kenny) Gene Heriford, age 66 of Centerville, Iowa, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013 at the Continental Care Center in Seymour.
He was born April 26, 1946 in Old Foster, Iowa, the son of Elberta Heriford. Kenny grew up in Moravia, Iowa and graduated from Moravia High School in 1964. Following high school graduation, Kenny enrolled in a six week welding certification program at John Deere in Ottumwa, Iowa. He worked at John Deere as a certified welder for thirty four years until his retirement in 2001.
In his free time, Kenny enjoyed music, fishing, and watching classic ""western"" movies. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Kenny is survived by his six children, Cassy (Ray) Lester of Lincoln, Nebraska, Bobby Heriford of Centerville, Iowa, Tanya (Mike) Henderson of Centerville, Iowa, Tammi (Ryan)Walker, Tim (Debbie) Batterson and Zach Egbert of Centerville; seventeen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three cousins, Eddie, Todd, and Janie; his aunt Ethel; and family friends John Beal and Richard (Kathy) Doud.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jane Heriford in 1992 and later by his wife Sherri Heriford in 2010; his mother Elberta Heriford in 2005; and a cousin Harold.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1 PM, Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Tim Batterson leading the service. Memorials have been established to either The Continental Care Center at Seymour or Girl Scout Troop # 290 and may be given to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
