Kenneth LaVern "Vern" Bryant's Obituary
Kenneth LaVern "Vern" Bryant, age 88, of Centerville, Iowa, died Saturday, August 12, 2006 at his son's residence in Afton, Wyoming. Kenneth was born on June 2, 1918 in Centerville, Iowa the son of John and Ollie (Rucker) Bryant. He graduated from Centerville High School in 1939.Kenneth was united in marriage to Edith LaRue Ward on August 30, 1941 in Lancaster, Missouri. Kenneth served his country with the United States Air Corps during World War II. He worked for a short time at the Rock Island Arsenal in Rock Island, Illinois, before moving to Centerville and working for Meadow Gold for over 25 years. Ken attended First Baptist Church in Centerville with his good friend Nellie Stickler.He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Edith Bryant on April 10, 1998; brothers, John and Curtis Bryant.Kenneth is survived by: his son, Kenneth Bryant and wife Lorna of Afton, Wyoming; daughter, Carolyn Smith and husband, Mike of Jacksonville, Arkansas; brother, Earl Bryant and wife, Elvira of Tuscon, Arizona; granddaughters, Chelsae Welle and husband Brian of Chandler, Arizona, Angela Bryant of Rockford, Illinois, Jeanette Smith of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Jennifer Bryant of Afton, Wyoming, Bethany Harris and husband, Scott, of Nashville, Arkansas; grandsons, Mark Bryant and wife, Stacey of South Beloit, Illinois, Jacob Smith of Conway, Arkansas; great grandchildren, Shaldon Patterson of Chandler, Arizona, Amber Bryant of Rockford, Illinois and Garion and Kadin Bryant of South Beloit, Illinois.Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2006 at 11:00 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with Rev. Lloyd Johnson and members of the Bryant family officiating. Burial will be at the Mt. Ararat Cemetery with full Military rites conducted by the Appanoose County Veterans. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 17, 2006 from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
