Katie J. Kruzich's Obituary
Katie Josephine (Baker) Kruzich 88, passed away Wednesday April 5, 2006 at the Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa. Katie was the only child born to Rosa (Beretta) and John G. Baker in Mystic, Iowa on June 5, 1917.
Katie married Milton ""Mike"" Kruzich on February 20, 1941 at St. Mary's Church in Milan, Missouri. They celebrated sixty-four years of marriage together. Mike preceded her in death nearly one year ago on April 19, 2005. Katie grieved deeply for Mike after his death and often shared fond memories of him with a mixture of tears. She also battled a sort of Leukemia for the past year which kept her bogged down.
Katie was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She pleasured greatly in cooking and feeding whomever met her at the door. In her earlier years, she spent many days living in a box car while Mike worked on the railroad. She also helped him at the Mystic Sinclair Station. When they moved to the farm and tried their hand at farming; Katie was there showing her expertise in farrowing hogs, tending sheep, cows, canning, helping with the garden, sewing, crocheting, making quilts for the grandkids and just plain worrying about everyone. Wherever Mike went, Katie went. They were inseparable and shared a great love for each other. It was hard to separate the two. Katie never went shopping without Mike nor went even to a hair appointment without him. Obviously they shared a bond no one could divide.
Katie is survived by son Morris Baker Kruzich and wife Janie of Mystic. She was the proud grandmother of two grandchildren; Jonna Lynn (Kruzich) Reed (Tom) of Corydon, Iowa and Michael Wade Kruzich of Mystic, Iowa. She was very proud of her great-grandchildren ; Nickolas, Rushton, Baker, Katie (her namesake) Reed, Josephina and Michael Tade Kruzich.
In passing Katie leaves a sister-in-law Frances Glaub of Silvis, Illinois and many nieces and nephews.
Katie was preceded in death by her husband Mike and her parents John G. and Rosa Baker.
She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Mass of Ressurrection will be held at 11:30 AM Saturday, April 8, 2006 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Ron Will C.PP.S officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Mystic, Iowa. Friends may call all day Friday with family present from 6-8 PM at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, Centerville. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 PM on Friday evening.
