Kathy Burgess Maddaleno's Obituary
Kathy Burgess Maddaleno, age 79, of Centerville, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2025 at Golden Age Care Center surrounded by loved ones.
Kathy was born on December 3, 1945 in Centerville, lowa, the daughter of Charles and Daphne (Edwards) Keller. She graduated from Centerville High School in 1964 and was united in marriage to Maurice Christopher (Chris) Maddaleno on April 3, 1964.
Kathy did bookkeeping for Maddaleno Trucking and then Sunshine Express. She was an active community volunteer through membership in organizations like Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Hospital Auxiliary, P.E.O. Chapter KA, T.T.T., Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Centerville Schools Foundation, MercyOne Hospital Foundation, and BelAir Club. She was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church.
Kathy was creative and full of energy. She loved to calligraphy, cook, travel and entertain. Kathy was the go-to for event planning, recipes, and advice. She could organize any event, large or small. She was welcoming and took pride in her family and home. She made each holiday special with fun traditions, and she never forgot a birthday.
Kathy is survived by three children, Michele (Tom) Hruska of Stephens City, Virginia, Mark (Glynda) Maddaleno of Arroyo Grande, California and Megan (Dustin) Kirkland of Centerville, lowa; six grandchildren, Nicholas Hruska, Mindy (Thomas) Miller, Tanis Maddaleno, Mason Maddaleno, Jayce Kirkland and Baylor Kirkland; three great grandchildren, Kamryn, Kylie and Khloe Miller; and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Kathy was preceded in death by her husband Chris, her parents, and her sister.
Per wishes, cremation has been accorded. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00AM Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at the First United Methodist Church in Centerville with Pastor Sarah Rohret officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at Crossroads Cemetery near Plano. Visitation will take place Monday, October 6, 2025 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville, with the family greeting friends from 4:00PM-6:00PM.
