Kathryn Louise Smith's Obituary
Kathryn Louise Smith was born August 1, 1933 in Humeston, IA to Clarence and Pauline Williams and passed away June 27, 2015 in Jacksonville, FL. She is predeceased by her parents, first husband Kenneth McCullough, sister Mary Jane Foley, brother Orlie Ray Williams, second husband Glen Smith, brother-in-law Mike Rouse, and son-in-law Rodney Fleming. After Louise graduated from high school in Humeston she went to Oregon and worked at Northwestern Bell. She became homesick and went back home to her family and friends and later met and married Kenneth McCullough and in 1952, had a daughter whom she loved very much. In 1953, she was hired by Lillian Rogers preparing income tax returns then subsequently worked for Ernest "Dutch" Miller at the ASCS office in Corydon where she worked until she retired. After her husband passed away in 1980, she found the United Methodist Church which turned out to be her salvation and she was later baptized. She made new friends and became very active in the church and was the president of the Lydia Circle for many years. In late 1983, Louise married Glen Smith and for 27 years enjoyed camping at various parks and especially the Iowa State Fair. Louise loved cooking and baking and often entered baked goods at the fair and won ribbons for her entries. Over the years, Louise accumulated an extensive collection of cookbooks of which she was very proud. When taking food to an event she would always say, "You have to take 3 things". She lived by this rule whole heartedly and she even passed it to her daughter and granddaughter. She was generous to a fault and was always helping anyone in need. She was an amazing mother, grandma, and great grandma who will always be remembered for her great sense of humor and the love she gave to us all. Louise is survived by her daughter Glenna Fleming, granddaughter Kelli Dix, great granddaughter McKenna Dix, brother Bill (Bobbi) Williams, sister Charolette Rouse, brother-in-law Howard (Eileen) McCullough and many nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Corydon United Methodist Church with Pastor Buckhahn officiating.
