Kathryn L. Bratz's Obituary
Kathryn Lavelle Bratz, age 90 of Centerville, Iowa died Sunday morning September 2, 2007 at the Centerville Nursing and Rehab Center.
Kathryn was born on November 26, 1919 in Centerville, Iowa the daughter of Angelo and Ollie (Carter) Crist. Kathryn's mother passed away when she was two years old, she was then raised by her maternal grandparents, John and Anna Carter. Katheryn attended the Centerville schools graduating with the class of 1935. Following graduation she was employed with the Saddle Rock Cafe and also worked as a Nurse's Aid at the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. She later went to work with the Hy-Vee Food Store, retiring in 1981 after many years of service. Following retirement she worked on a frequent basis as a Food Demonstrator until 1988.
Kathryn was united in marriage to Hermon Bratz on November 19, 1939 in Lancaster, Missouri. She attended and was a member of the Church of Christ where she had accepted the Lord as her Savior and was baptized. She was also a member of the BPW and the Eagles Auxiliary. Kathryn enjoyed cooking and playing Bingo but above all she loved being with her family, especially watching her grandchildren as they grew. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.
Kathryn will be dearly missed by her three sons: Richard (Lana), Tommy (Marilee) both of Centerville and Robert (Lona) of Exline. Her 10 grandchildren; Mark Bratz, Mike Bratz, Todd Bratz, Michelle Busch, Bradley Bratz, Luanne Henderson, Kathy Bratz, Joe Bratz, Ronnie Bratz and Makayla Bratz, 20 great-grandchildren and two cousins; Juanita Lee and Vivian Carter of Centerville. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a great-grandson.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 5, 2007 at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2007 with the family present from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
