Karl Ross Palmer's Obituary
Karl Ross Palmer, 89, of Corydon passed away Monday, March 14, 2016, at Corydon Specialty Care. Karl was born to Ross & Mary (Hammond) Palmer on January 18, 1927, in Allerton. He received his education from Sewal High School, graduating in 1944. He served in the US Army from April 1945 to December 1946. He married his wife, Marilyn Thomasson, on May 9, 1951, after he had returned from his service in the US Army. Karl was a farmer in Seymour and Sewal from 1951 to 2003. Karl accepted Christ as his Savior as a teenager. He was later baptized at the Christian Church in Seymour. In his spare time, Karl enjoyed playing dominoes, fishing, and reading. He especially enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, five children, twenty-four grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and two more great-grandchildren on the way. Wife, Marilyn Palmer of Corydon; daughter, Gloria Palmer of Iowa City; sons, Carol (Mary) Palmer of Corydon [Joshua and Liam, Hannah (Steven) and Adelaide Correll, Caleb (Allison), Titus (Rebekah), Esther, Aaron, Isaac, Ruth Ann, Jacob, Joseph]; Calvin (Wanette) Palmer of Corydon [Elizabeth, Cody and Emily Polsdofer, David (Sarah) and Abigail and Dayton, Tyson Polsdofer]; Craig (Lois) Palmer of Promise City [Gretchen (Kyle) and Bella Culp, Charity (Matthew) and Peter, Hope, and Andrew Reeves, Grace and Chance Mathes, Roman (Valarie), Cherrish, Raine, and Noelle]; daughter, Christine (Craig) Dietrich of Wadsworth, Ohio, [Mary Ellen, Daniel, Rachel, Nathan, and Joel]. Karl also leaves his brother, Orville Palmer of Wisconsin; sister, Ruby Starnes of Corydon; brother, Harry Palmer of Des Moines; and brother-in-law, Koran Brees of Corydon. Preceding him in death were his sisters: Irene Lohr, Ila Mae Brees, and Ruth Woollis; brothers: Leo Palmer and Floyd Palmer; granddaughter: Sarah Palmer; and grandson-in-law: Kenny Mathes. Funeral service will be Friday, March 18, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. at Corydon Bible Church. Visitation will be Thursday, March 17, 2016, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Thomas-Randolph Funeral Home in Corydon.
