Junior Dove's Obituary
Julius Junior 'Boomer' Dove, 90, of Centerville passed away Friday, November 1, 2013 at Centerville Nursing & Rehab. Junior was born in Centerville to Anthony & Ida (Connor) Dove on August 7, 1923. He received his education graduating from Centerville High School. Junior served his country during World War II in the United States Army Corps. After his return from Germany, he began working in the construction business as an iron worker. He was employed by Weitz Construction for the majority of his career. Junior was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2675 in Centerville and the American Legion Post#214. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Most will remember Junior with Ruth by his side. Of all things he enjoyed, "going out on the town" with Ruth was by far his favorite. He will be missed by many dear friends and family. Survivors include, three nieces and nephews: Sandra Banks of Seymour, Larry Dove of Missouri, Dennis Dove of Mystic, longtime companion Ruth Hedberg and her daughter Bev (Jim) Howe of Ottumwa, their children: Cathy (Michael) Britt of Batavia, IA, Chris (Mike) Durflinger of Bloomfield, Jim Howe of Ottumwa and Eric (Jamie) Howe of Agency, IA.. He was preceded in death by his wife, Merryl (Proctor) Dove, two brothers: Sammy and Leishman Dove. Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Thomas Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1 hour prior from 10-11 a.m. Interment will be in Haines Cemetery, north of Centerville. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Central Iowa.
