June Farner's Obituary
June Farner, age 93 of Centerville, Iowa died Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at the Continental St. Joseph, Centerville, Iowa.
June was born October 26, 1920 in Jefferson, Iowa the daughter of Ora and Bertha Mears. June graduated from Jefferson High School and then attended Wayne State College in Wayne, NE. She met Ted Farner at Wayne State College and they were married April 29, 1939.
To this union two children were born, David Michael Farner and Richard Theodore Farner. Together they spent 20 years in Sioux City, Iowa where June was active in the Boy Scouts and a leader at the Mayflower Congregational Church. In 1968 they moved to Centerville, where at first, June helped her husband at Farner Wholesale Company and then retired to enjoy her hobbies bridge and golf. June was a member of Chapter KA of PEO, MXL Society the Mayflower Congregational Church in Sioux City and a friend of the First Presbyterian Church in Centerville.
Preceding June in death is her husband, Ted; son, David Michael of Oskaloosa, Iowa; her parents; a sister, Gretchen Luce of San Francisco, CA.
June is survived by her son, Richard of Des Moines, IA; a daughter-in-law, Bette Farner of Oskaloosa; four grandchildren, Chad (Janet) Farner of Oskaloosa, Todd (Rebecca) Farner of Chicago, IL, Gretchen (Harold) Brinegar of Eddyville, Iowa and Jeff Farner of Sioux City; two great grandchildren, Rachael and Ethan Farner of Oskaloosa.
Graveside services will be held at 11AM Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Oakland Cemetery, Centerville with Pastor Carol Iammatteo-Code officiating. A memorial has been established to the First Presbyterian Church, Centerville and may be left at the Lange Funeral Home & Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
