Julie Ellen Doud's Obituary
Julie Ellen Doud, age 61 of Moravia, Iowa passed away Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
She was born on June 22, 1955 in Albia, Iowa, the daughter of Irven and Janis (Kirkpatrick) Summers. Julie received her education in the Albia school system.
Julie was united in marriage to Douglas Doud on June 10, 1978 in Bussey, Iowa and to this union of marriage, two children were born, Maria and James. Recently, the couple celebrated thirty eight years of marriage.
Julie was employed with Chamberlains Manufacturing in Albia for several years. She later worked at Wells Manufacturing in Centerville for many years, retiring in 2011 due to health reasons.
In her free time, Julie enjoyed many hobbies, including listening to music, crafts, sewing, making jewelry, and most notably, her passion for flower gardens. Julie loved to grow flowers.
More than anything, the role of housewife and mother defined Julies life. Family meant everything to her, especially the time she spent with her grandson, Owen.
Julie is survived by her husband, Douglas Doud of Moravia, Iowa; two children, Maria (Aaron) Hartson of Newton, Iowa and James Doud of Ottumwa, Iowa; her mother, Janis Summers of Lovilia, Iowa; a grandson, Owen Hartson of Newton, Iowa; a sister, Phyllis Whicker of Missouri; a brother, William "Bill" Summers; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Irven Summers.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Lange Funeral Home in Moravia, Iowa Pastor Dennis Doud officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Moravia. A visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Lange Funeral Home in Moravia, Iowa, with the family greeting friends from 6-8 PM. Memorials have been established to the Light of Life Church of Moravia and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
