Judith L. Martin's Obituary
Judith L. Martin, 74 of Centerville passed away Saturday, August 16, 2014 at her home. Judith was born to Erich & Naomi (Clark) Hofer on March 19, 1940 in Davenport, Iowa. She received her education from Udell High School graduating in the last Udell High School Class of 1959. On March 28, 1959, Judith was united in marriage to Archie R. Martin in Centerville, Iowa. To this union were five children; Archie, John, Deborah, Mark and Lauri. Judith was a homemaker throughout her life. She was the glue that keep the family in order while Archie was out making a living. The two raised their children in Clinton County. She was a long time member of Church of the Nazarene in Centerville. Judith enjoyed quilting, gardening, canning, putting together puzzles, playing Skipbo with friends and family, shopping and dining out. She and Archie took many trips in their motorhome to South Texas where they would spend time camping. Of all her enjoyments, none were more precious to her than family gatherings. Judith enjoyed family outings at their home. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Archie, three children: Deborah Martin Stutzel (Tom) of Centerville, Mark Martin (Melissa) of Centerville, Lauri Diebold (Charles) of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, 22 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, two daughters-in-law, Jennice Martin and Tina Martin, two siblings: Bob Hofer (Leslie) of Palmer, Alaska, Joan Young (Cecil) of Rock Falls, Illinois and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two children: Archie & John Martin, grandson, Avery Martin, sister, Hilda Humphrey and a step brother, George Pitcher. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Church of the Nazarene in Centerville with Rev. Walter King officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Monday, August 18, 2014 at Thomas Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the family.
