Juanita Frances Dooley's Obituary
Juanita Frances Dooley, age 99, of Centerville, Iowa, died Thursday, July 23, 2015, at Centerville Nursing & Rehab Center in Centerville. She was born the daughter of John Lester and Clara (Yetter) Hiatt near Hiattsville, Iowa in Appanoose County on November 8, 1915. She first attended Denny School in rural Appanoose County and later she graduated from the Moravia High School in 1933.She taught in a rural country school and was united in marriage to LaRoy Virgil Dooley on April 21, 1935 at the Baptist parsonage by Rev. Luther Childs in Centerville, The couple farmed and lived on her family century farm north of Centerville for over 65 years. She was converted at a young age at EUB Church in Moravia. Was a member of Wesley Chapel Church where she taught Sunday School for over 40 years and was the pianist for many years as well. Juanita also enjoyed being a 4-H leader, a member of Farm Bureau and was women's Chairman. She was also a member of Douglas Duz It Club, Band Mother's President and was active in the United Methodist Women's Society. After Wesley Chapel closed, she moved her membership to Grace United Methodist Church in Moravia where she remained active. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, L. Virgil Dooley on October 6, 200; an infant brother; sisters, Goldie Cornelius and Evelyn Daniels; and a infant great grandson, Karson Johnson.Juanita is survived by: her sons, Roy Dooley and his wife, Nancy of Fairfax, Virginia and Alan Dooley and his wife, Mary of Albion, Iowa; a daughter, Susan McDanel and her husband, Jody of Centerville, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Shawn, Shannon, Sarah, Melissa, Wade, Brooke and Erin; along with seventeen great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Monday, July 27, 2015 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Moravia, Iowa with Rev. Mike Finn officiating. Burial will follow at the Denny Cemetery northeast of Centerville, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2016 from 2 pm until 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with the family present from 6 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to Grace United Methodist Church and mailed or left at the funeral home.
