Joyce Ann Tuszynski's Obituary
Joyce Ann (Burkitt) Tuszynski, 79 of Centerville, Iowa passed away January 6, 2023 at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa surrounded by her loved ones with laughter and tears.
Joyce was born on February 2, 1943 (Ground Hogs Day) in Kansas City, Missouri. She is the daughter of John E. and Opal I. (Thomas) Burkitt jr.
Joyce attended school at Paseo High School in Kansas City, Missouri, where from 1st grade to 12th Sarah, Helen & Joyce became best friends/sisters for life.
Joyce was united in marriage on June 18, 1983 to Clem J. Tuszynski in Centerville, IA. To this union they added Sheryl, Mark, Jon and Toni Tuszynski to the family along with Joyces daughter Kelly. Joyce and Kelly were very close to each other, they were like best friends.
Joyce always enjoyed life and especially having God by her side. Joyce did many different kinds of jobs; from taking care of family which included her little sister Deloris (DeeDee) and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was referred to as Auntie Doe, My favorite Auntie and Auntie Miss Pigg from her nephews Jason & Eric and nieces Johnna and Michele. But everyone knew here by the nickname her granddaughter Leila gave her, "G.G." (Groundhog Granny). It was the best.
G.G. will be cherished in life by her children; Kelly (Harold) Davis of Iowa, Jeff (Wendy) Burhman of Florida, Johnna (Rob) Johnston of Missouri, Jason (Krystal) Burkitt of Missouri, Michele Daugherty of Missouri, Eric Burkitt of Missouri, grandchildren Leila Falki, Naser and Aya Falki, Melinda, Kaydence and Jaxson Thomas and Emilee and Addiline Burkitt. Sister Nancy Craig of Indiana, brother Raymond (Linda) Burkitt of Missouri and many more family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Clem, parents John & Opal Burkitt, little sister Deloris (DeeDee) Burkitt, Brother and sister-in-law JohnLee & Noreen Burkitt, brother-in-laws and sister-in-law's Sandra Burkitt, Doc Craig, Sharon Stewart, Pat & EC Jones, Special person Jack Rheinholtz, nieces and nephews Katie Wireman, Richard Thomas, Mike and Ted Jones and Little Steven.
Per wishes, cremation has been accorded. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00PM, Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Grace Tabernacle Baptist Church in Centerville, Iowa. Burial will take place March 27, 2023, in Kansas City, Missouri.
