Joyce Richmond's Obituary
Joyce Richmond of Exline, Iowa died Friday afternoon, September 10, 2010 at Long Term Care, Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa .
She was born November 5, 1924 in Abingdon, IL, the daughter of Dale and Mildred Seiler Anderson. She was raised in Abingdon and graduated from Abingdon High School. Upon high school graduation, Joyce attended Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois. She married Lawrence Richmond January 19, 1945 in Abingdon. The couple lived on a farm in Abingdon and then in Kirkwood, IL before moving to Exline in 1957. They farmed near Exline and she worked at the Bluebird Cafe and JC Penny's in Centerville, the Exline Post Office, and the Inn of the Six Toed Cat in Allerton, Iowa.
Joyce loved to garden and maintain her flowers, along with helping Lawrence with the farm. She loved to ride horses when she was younger and was a past member of the Bunco Club in Exline. Joyce was a member of the Exline Christian Church.
Joyce is survived by her husband Lawrence of Exline, a son Ronald (Jean) Richmond of Exline a daughter Pat Bouc of Durfermilin, IL, 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, a brother Cecil Anderson of St. Augustine, IL, and a son- in-law Roger Hill of Des Moines, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son Neil; a daughter Sharon Hill;and a great grandchild.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:30pm Monday afternoon September 13, 2010 at Lange Funeral Home, Centerville, with Pastor Ken Glass officiating. Inurnment will follow the memorial service in the Exline Cemetery, Exline, Iowa. A memorial has been established to Exline Christian Church and may be left or mailed to the Lange Funeral Home, 1900 South 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
