John Boyd Sinclair, Jr.'s Obituary
John Boyd Sinclair, Jr. of rural Allerton passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2023. He was 90 years of age.
John was born on January 14, 1933 on his family farm near Allerton to John B. Sinclair, Sr. and Blanche (Lane) Sinclair. He was united in marriage to Sharon Nadine Woods on April 22, 1960. She preceded him in death on June 27, 2014. John was also preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Alice Herbert and Jean Skillings.
John is survived by four children: Debbie Trivette (Rob) of Shelbina, Missouri, Cindy Murahashi (Scott) of Hood River, Oregon, Boyd Sinclair of Corydon, and Arden Sinclair of Lineville, Missouri; seven grandchildren: Rebecca Trivette, Jacob Trivette, Bailey Murahashi, Brenton Murahashi, Evan Sinclair (Victoria), Mitchell Sinclair (fiancé Megan), and Carter Sinclair; three great grandchildren: John Sinclair, Thomas Sinclair, and James Sinclair; his brother, Robert Sinclair and sister, Clara Blair and several nieces and nephews.
John attended Sunnyside Country School through 8th grade, and graduated from Corydon Community High School in 1950. He attended Tarkio College and graduated with a degree in Science Education. He taught at Van Wert Jr.-Sr. High School, but spent his life farming what is now a Century Farm near Allerton.
John served on the Wayne Community School District school board for several years. Farming was his hobby, and he was totally devoted to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.John was a devoted Christian, his early faith was greatly shaped by the Reformed Presbyterian Church. Most recently he was a respected member of the Allerton Christian Church where he served as a board member.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon, Iowa, followed by interment at the Cunningham Cemetery. A public viewing will be held Tuesday, November 7, 2023 from 9:30AM to 10:00 AM.
