John D Sease's Obituary
John Sease, 85, of Albia, passed away on December 27, 2018. John was born on April 19, 1933 in Genoa, Colorado to Percy and Bertha (Bonderman) Sease. John attended high school in Limon, Colorado while helping his father on the family farm. At the age of 20, John was drafted in the United States Army. He had only completed a couple days of basic training before the Korean War ended. Later, John was stationed at Fort Ord in California and then at Fort Lewis in Washington. He received a promotion and his battalion held a parade that was to be filmed in the movie, "To Hell & Back." It was a true WWII story of Audie Murphy, the most decorated soldier in U.S. history. Audie himself also starred in the film. After two years of service, John was honorably discharged. While at home, John met Colleen Eccleston through a mutual friend. The pair were married in 1956 and to this union, four children were born. John and Edwina divorced 20 years later. In 1957, John helped build a grain elevator in his town. He was a farmer and rancher all of his life, and also drove a school bus for 14 years on the side. John also operated a local gas station for several years. In his spare time, John enjoyed gardening, mowing the grass and fishing. John is survived by his children: Melody (Jack) Engle, Karma (Frank) Honeycutt and Gail Sease; grandchildren: Brandy Christenson, Eugene Engle, Teri (Ray) Howard, John Sease and Daniel (ShaKon) Honeycutt; great grandchildren: Makayla Nickell and Gianna Allee as well as numerous extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jeanene McCloud; great grandson, Devyn Engle and his sisters: Goldie Knight, Leona Sutton, Vera Bowie, Erma Baysinger, Edna Windlinx and Eva Cole as well as his brother, Wayne Sease. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 31, 2018 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville. Interment will immediately follow at Haines Cemetery. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Remnant Church Ministries and online condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com or facebook.com/thomasfuneralhome.
