John Stanley Rockwood's Obituary
John S. Rockwood, age 68, of Moulton, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born the son of Perry and Marion (Hanson) Rockwood on January 27, 1944 in Niagara Falls, New York.In 1964, John was united in marriage to Lala Starr in Hacienda Heights, California. He worked for over 20 years as a Machinist for the Miller Brewing Company in California where he was also a Union Steward for IAM.He was preceded in death by: his parents; and a sister in infancy.John is survived by: his wife, Lala Rockwood of Moulton, Iowa; sons, John A. Rockwood and his fiance, Barbara Peters of Moulton, Iowa, Marvin Rockwood of Moulton, Iowa and Martin Rockwood also of Moulton, Iowa; a daughter, Leslie Blackwell and friend, John Sample of Moulton, Iowa; six grandchildren; a brother, Leonard Rockwood of Las Vegas, Nevada; sisters, Ruth Turner of Prattville, Alabama, Kathy Lowe of Corona, California and Linda Moore of Seymour, Iowa.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 11 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Moulton, Iowa with Rev. Tony Fields officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery west of Moulton. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 6, 2012 from 2 until 8 pm at the funeral home with the family present from 6 pm until 8 pm.Memorials can be made in his name and will be designated at a later date and can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
