John Roby's Obituary
John Roby, age 74, of Mystic, Iowa, died Sunday, March 27, 2016, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born the son of Lloyd and Anna Virginia (Gibleon) Roby on July 20, 1941 in Mystic, Iowa. He attended Mystic schools.John was united in marriage to Beverly Hanson, they were later divorced, then he was united in marriage to Marguerite Dargie, and they too were later divorced, then on June 5, 1971, he was united in marriage to Judith Ann Stevens who passed away in 2010. Then in January 28, 2013, he was united in marriage to Joan Fowler in Bloomfield, Iowa. He served his country in the US Army from August of 1959 until his honorable discharge in August of 1962. John was a Supervisor for John Deere Works in Moline, Illinois for over 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 340 in Mystic, Iowa and while in the Army he was Corpsman stationed in Alaska.He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Judith Ann Roby on November 14, 2010; and a step-son, Jeff Booth.John is survived by: his wife, Joan Roby of Mystic, Iowa; sons, Tracy Booth and his wife, Della, of Queen Creek, Arizona; James L. Roby and his wife, Annette, of East Moline, Illinois; and Justin Roby and his wife, Lisa, of Danville, Iowa; daughters, Diana Leaf and her husband, Pete, of Moline, Illinois; Annie Quinn and her husband, Stuart; and Hidi Link and her husband, Bill, all of Beulaville, North Carolina; sister, Rose Ann Smith and her husband, Edward, of Mystic, Iowa; and a brother, Ronald Roby and his wife, Wanda, of McCausland, Iowa; nineteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Friday, April 1, 2016 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Holly Oden officiating. Burial with full military honors at the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2016 from 2 pm until 8 pm with the family present from 6 pm until 8 pm at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the American Legion Post 340 of Mystic and can be left or mailed to the funeral home.
