John J. Mcdanolds' Obituary
John McDanolds, age 81, of Centerville, died Saturday, November 11, 2006 at the Mercy Medical Center, Des Moines, Iowa.
He was born March 15, 1925 in Mystic, Iowa the son of Charles E. and Elsie Mae (McGrann) McDanolds. He was raised on a farm south of Mystic and graduated from Mystic High School. Following graduation he served in the United States Navy during WWII. He married Betty Lou Grebby August 12, 1944 at Norman, OK. John and Betty farmed north of Mystic where they spent their lives together. He loved his wife, four daughters, and his grandkids. He also loved to fish, so much so, the DNR would call and ask him where the fish were biting. He was very well read, enjoying history and westerns. He was a member of the Mystic Methodist Church and the Mystic American Legion.
John is survived by four daughters, Carol McDanolds-Bradley of Centerville, Lana Smith and her husband Jim of Moravia, IA, Susan Wright of Mystic, IA, Lori Patrick and her husband Mike of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota; seven grandchildren John J. Bradley of Rhome, TX, Holly Hartnett and her husband Roger of Clive, IA, Brandon Smith and his wife Amanda of Moravia, Dusty Hatfield of Centerville, Blayne Wright of Udell, IA, Jocelyn Straight and her husband Jeff of Logan, IA, Jacob Ahee of Ames, IA; two step grandchildren Jamie and Jill Patrick of Red Oak, IA, ten great grandchildren Crystal Bradley of Rhome, TX, Luke and Cole Hartnett of Clive, Colby and Chance Smith of Moravia, Lane, Abby, & Emmy Lou Hatfield of Centerville, and Jack and Jace Straight of Logan; a brother James McDanolds and his wife Olive of Centerville, a sister in law Thelma McDanolds of Mystic.
He was preceded in death by his wife Betty, his parents, and a brother Charles.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 Tuesday morning, November 14, 2006 at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, Centerville with Rev Jim Schweizer officiating. Grandson John Bradley will deliver the Eulogy, Jack Fox will sing Amazing Grace and How Great Thou Art, accompanied by David Powell on the organ. Friends may call all day Monday with the family present from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery, Mystic, Iowa with Military Rites. Casketbearers will be Jim Smith, Mike Patrick, John Bradley, Brandon Smith, Blayne Wright and Jacob Ahee.
