John Edward Long's Obituary
John Edward Long, age 79, of Centerville, Iowa, died on Friday, August 31, 2007 at his sister's home in Centerville. He was born the son of Roy and Rose (Espy) Long on February 13, 1928 in Centerville, Iowa. He received a BA in Accounting at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. John was united in marriage to Lana Bernhardt in December of 2000 in Centerville, Iowa. John was employed as an accountant most of his life and a house painter after retirement as well as being an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He traveled extensively with is work, listing addresses in Centerville, Iowa, Valparaiso, Indiana, Albuquerque, New Mexico, White Bear Lake, Minnesota, King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, Los Angeles and San Francisco, California, Chicago, Illinois and Tehran, Iran at various times. He was the financial Controller for the Sears Tower construction project in Chicago. He was preceded in death by: his parents and step-parents.John is survived by: his wife, Lana Long of Centerville, Iowa; son, John D. Long and his wife, Ariana of San Antonio, Texas; daughters, Kathy Bowden and her husband, Wayne of Williamsburg, Virginia and Rose E. Long of Valparaiso, Indiana; step-sons, Kenneth Tackett of Joplin, Missouri and Christopher Tackett of Hot Springs, Arkansas; half-brothers, Richard Long of Centerville, Iowa and Raymond Glynn of Florida; half-sister, JoAnn Terrones of Centerville, Iowa; four grandchildren. Graveside memorial services will be held on Friday, September 7, 2007 at 10:00 am at the Main Station Cemetery near Lake Rathbun. Burial of his ashes will follow.
