John Logsdon's Obituary
John Logsdon, age 74 of Cincinnati, Iowa died Thursday, May 8, 2014 at the Golden Age Care Center, Centerville, Iowa.
John was born February 29, 1940 in Cincinnati, Iowa to Vaughn and Mary (Polson) Logsdon . He graduated from Cincinnati High School and was an auto mechanic. John worked for Ford Kirby, King's Gas Station and Gerald Campbell. He was known for his talents as a mechanic. People from as far as 150 miles away would bring their cars to him for repair work. Even in retirement people often asked John for advice on how to fix their vehicles.
He loved hunting and car shows and was a father figure to many in the Cincinnati area. His pride and joy was his 1940 Ford pickup that he restored. He was a member of the Dale Church.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Logsdon of Cincinnati, Iowa; his mother, Mary Logsdon; four children, Dennis (Brenda) Logsdon of Cincinnati, Becky (Chuck) Lenig of Centerville, Melinda Opperman of Centerville and Steve Logsdon of Centerville; 6 grandchildren, Kindra Lenig, Andrew Logsdon, April Logsdon, Charity Opperman, Mathew Logsdon and John Logsdon; 2 great grandchildren, Alyssa and Wrangler; 3 step children, Randy (Brenda) Davis of Centerville, Michael Davis of Edgewood, TX and Sherry (Robert) Campbell of Centerville; 2 step grandchildren, Rachael Campbell and Jessica Davis; two brothers, Bob (Jane) Logsdon of Cincinnati and Gene Logsdon of Cincinnati.
He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, Charles Logsdon.
Funeral Service will be held at 11AM Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at the Lange Funeral Home & Crematory, Centerville, Iowa with Pastor Gerald Campbell officiating. Friends may call Monday with the family present from 6-8 PM at the Lange Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Cincinnati, Iowa. A memorial has been established to the family and may be left at the funeral home. Condolences may be left at www.langefh.com
