John Floyd Kueny's Obituary
John Floyd Kueny was born at home in Danbury, Iowa on April 18, 1926. He died quietly in his home on April 22, 2022. John grew up on farms in the area south of Sioux City. The son of Will and Anna Kueny, he was one of 14 children. He was a farmer most of his life, retiring in 1986. John met his wife Martha Heide while driving a bus from Sioux City to Fort Dodge in the 1950's. They were married for 61 years. He is survived by daughters Theresa (Jeffrey) Theis of Garwin, Lynette (Kurtis) Watts of LeClaire, and son Mike (Laura) of West Des Moines. Also grandchildren Stacy Marks, Hailey Kueny, Robert Frazier, Catheryne Swann, Peyton Hernandez, Karrigan Fisher, Michael Kueny, Ron Lenz, and Brandi Alongi. Preceding him in death are his wife and son David.
John had a quick wit and you never knew when he was going to slip a bit of a joke in any conversation. He loved to play the card game 500 and pitching horseshoes. Camping was a big deal for him so he converted an old school bus into a camper, building most of the interior himself. John took great pride in caring for the lawn and garden around his home. Later in life he enjoyed feeding and watching small wildlife outside his dining room window.
