John 'Jack' Andrew Kennelly's Obituary
John "Jack" Andrew Kennelly, age 84, of Moulton, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at his home.
Jack was born on April 19, 1937 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of John Andrew Kennelly and Mary (Bowden) Kennelly. On October 11, 1955, Jack enlisted in the United States Army. Jack was united in marriage to Sandra Tibbetts in Landstuhl, Germany on December 17, 1957 while they were both stationed overseas. Jack served his country faithfully overseas, and was honorably discharged on June 20, 1962.
Jack worked as a carpenter for most of his life. He enjoyed woodworking, horses, guns, dogs, tractors and motorcycles. Jack was a member of the St. Marys Catholic Church in Centerville, the Knights of Columbus, a Sharon Township Trustee, and the Centerville VFW/American Legion/AMVETS.
Left to honor Jacks memory are his children, John Kennelly of Richland, Iowa, Donald (Diane) Kennelly of Muscatine, Iowa, Ann Kennelly of Albia, Iowa, James (Bonnie) Kennelly of Bonaparte, Iowa, Sheryl (Kenny Boyd) Taylor of Inman, Kansas, Christina Kennelly of Joliett, Pennsylvania, and Cherie (Ric) Procell of Lees Summit, Missouri; twenty grandchildren; thirty-eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Joan Alexander of Albany, Georgia.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Kennelly; his parents, John and Mary Kennelly; and a grandson, Chad Stice.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00AM, Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Centerville with Father Timothy Armbruster officiating. Burial will follow the service at Mt. Ararat Cemetery, east of Centerville with Military Rites conducted. A Visitation will take place Monday, August 16, 2021 at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville, with the family greeting friends from 5-7PM. Memorials have been established to the Centerville VFW, Post #526, and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, C/O Kennelly family, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
