John Furlin's Obituary
John Leo Furlin, age 83 of Centerville died Saturday Afternoon, March 25, 2006 at Friendship Village in Grinnell, Iowa.
John was born July 19, 1922, the son of Antonio and Ann (Pescador) Furlin in Centerville, Iowa. He grew up in Centerville and graduated from Centerville High School. John married Madelyne Shankster December 5, 1952 in Kirksville, Missouri. She preceded him in death on August 8, 2004. John was self-employed throughout his lifetime. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the American Legion. John was an original charter member of the Eagle's Club. He was also a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church. John loved to fish, golf, and spend time with his family.
John is survived by three children, Gene (Velma) Furlin of Newton, Iowa, John Jr. (Darcy) Furlin of Kellogg, Idaho, and James (Millie) Furlin of San Antonio, Texas; and ten grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his wife; and a daughter Gina.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday morning, March 30, 2006 at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home with Fr. Ron Will C.PP.S. officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until service time. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Centerville. A memorial has been established to the family and may be mailed to or left at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, 1900 South 18th St, Centerville, 52544.
