John Crowell, age 61, of Centerville, Iowa, died Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at his home in Centerville. He was born the son of Leon and Evelyn (Arvidson) Crowell on February 11, 1945 in Centerville, Iowa. He graduated from the Centerville Community School in 1963 and later attended Indian Hills Community College and Northeast Missouri State in Kirksville, Missouri and graduated with BA in education.On December 14, 1967, He was united in marriage to Sheila Rienhart in Centerville, Iowa. John was employed by Ford Motor Credit for over 30 years. He loved to attend NASCAR events around the country.He was preceded in death by: his father, Leon 'Tiny' Crowell on October 9, 1997 and a brother, Arthur Crowell.John is survived by: his mother, Evelyn Crowell of Centerville, Iowa; sons, Jeff Crowell and his wife, Jill of Glendora, California, Shane Crowell and his wife, Christa of LaVerne, California; daughter, Wendy Williamson and her husband, Joe of Yucaipa, California; grandchildren, Nicholas, Amanda, Ashley, Ryan and Tyler Crowell, McKenna and Riley Jean Williamson.Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 5, 2007 at 10 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Carl Heien officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery in Centerville. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 4, 2007 from 1 pm till 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home with the family present from 2 pm till 4 pm at the funeral home.Memorials can be made to Victory Junction Gang Camp which enriches the lives of children with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses by providing life-changing camping experiences that are exciting, fun, and empowering, in a safe and medically sound environment. In June of 2004, Victory Junction Gang Camp proudly opened its doors! The Camp was founded by Kyle and Pattie Petty, in honor of their son Adam. In 1999, after participating in a motorcycle ride to Camp Boggy Creek in Florida, the Petty family felt inspired to build a camp in North Carolina.
