John E Broshar's Obituary
John E. Broshar, age 99 of Centerville, passed away Friday, February 2, 2024 at Golden Age Care Center in Centerville.
John was born on December 28, 1924 in Appanoose County, Iowa, the son of Theodore and Ruth Irene (Foster) Broshar. He graduated from Moravia High School. On July 29, 1945, John was united in marriage to Yvonne Harrison in Centerville, Iowa at the Baptist Parsonage. To this union, two children were born, Dixie and Donnie.
John was a farmer throughout his lifetime. Alongside farming, he served two terms as an Appanoose County Board of Supervisor. He also served on the Appanoose County Fair Board and volunteered many years at Golden Age Care Center. John was a long-time member of the Numa Christian Church, and was an active member of Gideon's International.
Left to honor John's memory are his daughter, Dixie (Donald) Thomas; his daughter-in-law, Diana Broshar; eight grandchildren, Donna Thomas, Charlotte Martin, Stephanie Thomas, Regina Romo, Nathan (Irene) Broshar, Ryan (Ashlee) Broshar, Michelle (Joe) Feldmann, and Kyle (Cris) Broshar; his sisters, Pauline Donovan and Mary Frances Lucas; 13 great grandchildren; as well as several extended family members and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Ruth Broshar; his wife, Yvonne Broshar on August 27, 1993; his son, Donnie Broshar; and his grandson, David Gatrel.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM, Monday, February 5, 2024 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with Pastor Kay Singley officiating. Burial will follow the service at Main Station Cemetery, near Moravia. Visitation will take place Monday, February 5, 2024 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with the family greeting friends from 1:00-2:00PM.
