JoElla Elaine Coatney's Obituary
JoElla Elaine Coatney, age 65 of Brazil, Iowa, passed away Friday, November 27, 2015 at her home.
She was born January 13, 1950 in Albia, Iowa, the daughter of William Eugene ""Gene"" and Eleanora Elaine (Campbell) Watts. JoElla married Jerry H. Coatney on September 16, 1966 in Unionville, Missouri. To this union of marriage, they were blessed with three children, Jerry M., Kimberley J., and Nicholas W. They later divorced. JoElla later married LaVern Wages. The couple eventually divorced. JoElla lived her entire life in Brazil, Iowa.
JoElla was employed with Rubbermaid in Centerville. She later went to work for Curwood Manufacturing. JoElla worked in the finishing department with the company for nearly twenty years, retiring due to health reasons.
She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. JoElla also enjoyed hosting holiday meals for family gatherings in her home. She had a passion for feeding and watching the birds in her backyard, especially humming birds. JoElla also enjoyed playing cards, as well as computer games.
JoElla is survived by her three children, Jerry M. (Kristy) Coatney of Brazil, Iowa, Kimberley (Craig) Coatney of Brazil, Iowa, and Nicholas (Sarah) Coatney of Brazil, Iowa; six grandchildren, Ross Vanderheyden, Jessica Coatney, Noah Coatney, Abigail Coatney, Deagan Coatney, and Remi Coatney; a great grandchild, Reed Vanderheyden; a sister-in-law, Linda Watts of Centerville, Iowa; an aunt, Margret Foster; and several nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her second husband, LaVern Wages; two brothers, William E. Watts, Leslie Joe Watts; and a sister, Linda Sue Barger.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Jack Engle officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Cemetery, Mystic, Iowa. A visitation will take place at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville on Monday, November 30, 2015 from 10 AM-8 PM, with the family greeting friends from 6-8. Memorials have been established to the Highland Cemetery Association and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
