Joe Goodwin Wetmore's Obituary
Joe Goodwin Wetmore, age 77 of Clarkdale, Iowa passed away Sunday, December 15, 2013 at his home.
He was born February 5, 1936 in Appanoose County, Iowa the son of Harry and Beulah (Walker) Wetmore. After the death of his father in 1943, he made his home with his maternal grandparents Clyde and Lucille (Faulkner) Walker. Joe attended local schools and graduated from Centerville High School with the Class of 1955. He married Mary Ann Sacco on October 22, 1955. Joe served in the United States Army from November 1958 to November 1960. The couple made their home in Petersburg, Virginia during Joe's time at Fr. Lee. Joe retired from Jim Buban Motors in 1997.
Joe loved cars and owned many classic models. He was an avid Sprint Car fan and attended races at Knoxville and race tracks throughout the United States.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his maternal grandparents; his paternal grandparents Goodwin and Ethel (Tarbell) Wetmore; and three siblings, Jackie and Bonnie as children, and James in 1988.
Joe is survived by his wife Mary Ann; Mary Ann's brothers and sisters and their families; many nieces and nephews; and his special friends and caregivers, Fred and Linda Seddon.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 20, 2013 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville from 11 AM-7 PM, with the family present from 5-7 PM. A private burial service will be held. Memorials have been established to either HCI Care Services of South-Central Iowa or to the 18-80 Club of Centerville and may be given to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
