Joseph A. Pasa, age 85 of Centerville died Saturday morning, December 20, 2008 at the home of his son.
He was born August 24, 1923 at Centerville the son of Victor Gabriel and Josephine Betelle Pasa. He graduated from Centerville High School in 1941. Joe served in the United States Navy from 1944 - 1946. He married Pauline R. Smith at St. Mary's Rectory, Centerville May 28, 1949.
Joe worked as the shop foreman for Centerville Body Shop for over 40 years; he also owned and operated J & J Auto Service. As an entrepenuer he rebuilt cars for resale. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, and American Legion Post # 214, in Centerville.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline of Centerville, 5 children Cheryl Pasa and her husband Larry Villines of San Antonio, TX, Joseph Jr. Pasa and his wife Linda Sue of Norwalk, Iowa, Dan Pasa and his wife Robyn of Kirksville, MO, John and his wife Kathy of Centerville, Tim Pasa and his wife Barb of Centerville, 13 grandchildren, 9 great grand children, a sister Mary Ashby of Centerville.
Joe was preceded in death by a grandson Luca John, parents, and a brother Victor.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Dennis Schaab officiating. Friends may call Monday with the family present from 6-8 PM at the Lange Funeral Home, Centerville. A scripture service will be held at the funeral home at 7:30 PM Monday evening. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Centerville with Military Rites. A memorial has been established to Hospice of Central Iowa or St. Mary's Catholic Church and may be left or mailed to the Lange Funeral Home, 1900 South 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
