Joe Kaprich's Obituary
Joe Kaprich, 87 of Centerville passed away Monday, September 22, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, surrounded by his family. Joe was born to Joseph and Josephine (Mourek) Kaprich in Rathbun, Iowa on August 8, 1927. He was raised with four other siblings and graduated Rathbun High School in 1944. At 17, Joe went to work for John Deere in Ottumwa. He was employed on the assembly line, working on balers and combines. Joe was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Faith was important to him and he had gifts of patience, honesty and kindness that he shared to all around him. Joe joined the Army and was enlisted for two years during the Korean War. On January 7, 1950 Joe married Margaret Herr in Mystic. They had two sons, Michael and John that were his pride and joy. Joe loved spending time with his family. He took his boys hunting and fishing. Joe took time to craft toys and other things from wood for them to play with. For years he helped his sons to make cars for the pinewood derby. His family remembers that although they never won a race, they were by far the best looking cars. Joe retired from John Deere in 1981, after 37 years of hard work and providing for his family. Joe continued to do what he was known for, being a wonderful husband and father, helping anyone to do anything they might need. Joe is survived by his wife, Margaret, two sons; Michael (Suzanne) Kaprich of Franklin, TN and John (Rebecca) Kaprich of Ankeny, IA, four grandchildren; Mason and Maddie Kaprich of Franklin, TN and Nathan and Andrew Kaprich of Ankeny, IA and sister Agnes (Norman) Swensen of Nevada, IA. He was preceded by his parents, brother, George Kaprich, sister, Mary Barnes and an infant brother, William Kaprich.
