Joe Horn's Obituary
Joe Horn, age 82, of Goodlettsville, Tennessee and a former Centerville, Iowa resident, died Saturday, July 31, 2010 at National Health Care Center in Hendersonville, Tennessee. He was born the son of Clarence and Letha (Dhority) Horn on January 5, 1928 near Moulton, Iowa. He graduated from the Moulton Community Schools in 1946.On March 15, 1947, Joe was united in marriage to Cathlene Forsythe in Moulton, Iowa. He farmed for many years south of Moulton as well as owned Horn Insurance and Real Estate Agency in Centerville, Iowa. He was a member of the Solid Rock Church of God in Centerville. In 2006, he and his wife moved to Tennessee due to health reasons and in December of 2007, Joe was under nursing care until he left to be with his Heavenly Father. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved his family, and friends and especially his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He will be missed.He was preceded in death by: his mother, Letha Horn in 1943; his father, Clarence Horn on May 21, 1992 and his step-mother, Alice Horn on January 10, 2004.Joe is survived by: his wife, Cathlene Horn of Goodlettsville, Tennessee; a son, Anthony Horn and his wife, Anne of Cleveland, Tennessee; daughters, Lana Tracy and her husband, Don of Goodlettsville, Tennessee and Lynn Schlenker and her husband, Eldon of Grimes, Iowa; a brother, Dwain Horn of Omaha, Nebraska; and a sister, Nancy Hancock of Eldon, Iowa; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.A service Celebrating the Life of Joe Horn will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at 10 am at the Solid Rock Church of God in Centerville, Iowa with Pastor Kristopher J. Wattelet officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset View Cemetery north of Moulton, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa from 1 pm till 8 pm with the family present from 6 pm till 8 pm at the funeral home.A memorial has been established to the family and will be designated at a later date and can be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
