Joe Dixon's Obituary
Hal Joseph 'Joe' Dixon Sr., 73, of Moulton passed away Monday, August 21, 2017 at his home. Joe was born to Hal & Helen (Davis) Dixon on September 1, 1943 in Centerville. He received his education from Moulton Schools. On January 9, 1964, Joe was united in marriage to Ellar Murvin in Jacksonville, North Carolina. To this union came three children: Hal Jr., Joyce and Charles. Joe was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving his country from 1960-1964. He worked numerous jobs throughout his life including , foundry work, truck driver, auto body and mechanic shop and was the town police officer for Moulton for 27 years. In his spare time, Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, camping, working on cars, going to car shows and spending time at Rathbun Lake. Survivors include two children: Hal Joseph Dixon Jr., of Burlington, Joyce Fine of Floris, Iowa, 13 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Ellar, son, Charles, sister, Joyce Kay Dixon and his parents. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 24, 2017 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville. Interment with Military Honors will follow immediately at Sunset View Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, August 23, 2017 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with family present from 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to his daughter, Joyce Fine and condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com.
