JoAnn Fetters Obituary's Obituary
JoAnn Fetters was born August 3, 1930 to Velva (Crawford) and Bernard Smith of Unionville, Missouri. She joined an older brother LaVan and was later joined by a sister Janis and brother Larry. JoAnn was united in marriage to Everett Fetters on May 22, 1948. To this union four sons were born: Donnie, Jonnie, Jerry and Jackie. She was a cook for 11 years at Seymour Community School while Everett managed the Pester Derby gas station in Seymour. The younger sons Jerry and Jack helped their dad service vehicles and fix truck tires. Everett and JoAnn farmed for several years in Wayne and Appanoose counties. JoAnn enjoyed sewing and even made a wedding gown for a niece. She also was a good cook and no one could compete with Grandma's noodles, lime pickles, hamburger gravy or cinnamon rolls. She enjoyed crocheting and working on quilts in her spare time. They moved to Knoxville, Iowa where she and Everett were employed at the VA hospital. After their retirement they returned to Seymour where she resided for 21 years until her recent illness. JoAnn enjoyed her time spent on the farm being outdoors, keeping her lawn and spending time with her dog Sugar. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson Tyler Fetters, son Jack, mother and father- in-law David and Lula Fetters and several other brothers-in-law and sisters- in-law. She is survived by sons: Donnie (Harriett) Fetters of Hesperia, California, Jonnie (Cheryl) Fetters and Jerry (Penny) Fetters of Seymour, Iowa, also siblings: LaVan (Anna Belle) Smith of Unionville, Missouri, Janis (Art) Klinginsmith of Burbank, Washington, and Larry (Mary) Smith of Houston, Texas, brother-in-law Keith Fetters and sister-in-law Barb Fetters, 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and a host of neighbors and friends who will all miss her. .
