JoAnn Mae Grimm's Obituary
JoAnn Mae Grimm, age 86 of Mystic, Iowa passed away Thursday, March 8, 2012 at the Continental Care Center in Seymour, Iowa.
She was born to Harold and Felicia (Hughes) Shipman February 10, 1926. She went through the eighth Grade at Williamson School in Leechburg, PA. She married George W. Grimm Sr. in 1944. They lived in Pennsylvania before relocating to Iowa in 1954.
JoAnn worked as a waitress, then at McGraw Edison and Curwood before retiring in 1989. JoAnn was a member of the First Baptist Church, Centerville, Red Hat Ladies, Hospital Auxiliary; she was also in a bowling league. She loved to travel, going to Hawaii and Germany twice, and several bus trips in the Midwest, played bingo, reading, doing crafts and loved crossword puzzles. She was an outgoing person; never knew a stranger and was loved by all.
She is survived by eight children James (Jim) & Joyce Grimm of New Jersey, Charles (Chuck) & Pam of Centerville, George and Linda Grimm of Centerville, Gary and Susan of Missouri, Franklin (Frank) and Irene of Colorado, Patricia (Pat) and Bill Breeding of Mystic, Linda and Calvin McGhee of Corydon, Iowa and Debra Brockus of Albia. She is also survived by 36 grandchildren, 71 great grand children and 2 great great grandchildren; four brothers, William (Bud) Shipman of Leechburg, Jack Shipman of Leechburg, James Shipman of Centerville, and Gerald (Jerry) Shipman of Leechburg.
She is preceded in death by her husband George; 2 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; her parents; and four brothers, Paul, Bernard, Gene and Todd; and sisters Pat and Nancy Shipman.
Funeral services will be held 11 A M, Monday, March 12, 2012 at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville with Pastor Lloyd Johnston officiating. Burial will follow in the Hanes Cemetery north of Centerville. A visitation will be held Sunday at Lange Funeral Home from 12-8, with the family present from 6-8 PM. A memorial has been established to the Alzheimer's Association and may be left at or mailed to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
