Joan 'Jo' Roby's Obituary
Joan 'Jo' Roby, age 72, of Mystic, Iowa passed away Monday, February 20, 2017 at her home.
Jo was born on January 14, 1945 in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of Harold and Margaret (Mathis) Fowler. She graduated from Centerville High School, class of 1963. She was united in marriage to Ray Wagner on November 24, 1963. From this union, three children were born, Brent, Brenda, and Brian. They divorced in 1990. On January 28, 2013, she was united in marriage to John Roby in Bloomfield, Iowa. He preceded her in death on March 27, 2016.
Jo was a direct support associate at Centerville Community Betterment for over twenty years. She served as a civil servant of the Centerville community by assisting in the betterment of lives of people living with disabilities until her retirement.
Jo is survived by her children, Brent Wagner of Denver, Colorado, Brenda (Thack) Wagner of Des Moines, Iowa, Brian Wagner of Des Moines, Iowa; a brother, Jerry (Cathy) Fowler of Oskaloosa, Iowa; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Margaret Fowler; her husband, John Roby; a brother, Gene Fowler; and a sister, Ilene Fowler.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, February 24, 2017 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Holly Oden officiating. A visitation will take place on Friday, February 24, 2017 at Lange Funeral Home, with the family greeting friends from 9:30-10:30 AM. Memorials have been established to Centerville Community Betterment and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa, 52544.
