Jimmy William Enright's Obituary
Jimmy William Enright, 78 of Corydon, Iowa passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at the Putnam County Care Center in Unionville, MO. Jim was born on July 10, 1946 in Corydon, Iowa. He was the first-born son of Delmar and Etta (Calif) Enright. Later he was joined by Richard, Peggy and Staci.
Jim attended Seymour Community School and graduated with the class of 1965. He was drafted into the US Army in 1966 and was stationed in Nuremburg, Germany. After serving, he was honorably discharged in 1968. Jim married Janet Louise Kilbourn on February 16, 1969 in Seymour, Iowa at the Seymour Methodist Church. To this union they welcomed three children, Jerry, Jeff and Jenni.
Jim was a "Jack of all Trades". Working hard to provide for his family. He lived and worked for a year and a half at Sargent's Rock Quarry in Osceola, Iowa before moving back home to Sewal to work for L & L Fertilizer. He loved his Allis-Chalmers tractors and would use them to work on the family farm in his spare time. Jim then found work at the Seymour Community School in 1986 where he was a custodian and substitute bus driver for 26 years. He retired from the school in 2012. In retirement Jim drove the Amish to job sites making many friends until his memory declined. He found much joy in taking car rides around the roads of Wayne County and beyond.
Left to honor Jim's memory is his wife of 55 years Janet Enright; children, Jerry (Stephanie Koch) Enright, Jeff (Angie) Enright and Jenni (Brock) Glenn; brother, Rick Enright; sisters, Peggy (Byron) Johnson and Staci (Jason) Dorbeck; grand-children with the nick-names grandpa Jim gave them, Shayla- Pippi (Colt) Christianson, Ashtin- Fat cheeks (Trevor) Sherrard, Travis- Porkchop (Tylar) Enright, Ali- Suzy Q Enright, Dugun (Doogie) Glenn, Jaden -J.J. Enright and Madison - M&M (Mason) Sulser; great granddaughter, Hattie Christianson and great grandsons, Tucker and Tanner Sherrard and Rylan Enright. Bonus family members Jamie - Dingy Swearingin, Jenna - Goofy Porter and Katelyn - Goofy 2 Swearingin and several nieces, nephews and special extended family members.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Delmar and Etta Enright; In-laws, J.C. and Maudelene Kilbourn; brother-in-law, Larry Kilbourn; sister-in-law, Karla Enright, grandparents, aunts and uncles.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 2, 2024 at 11:00 am at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon, Iowa with Interment to immediately follow with Military Rites at Shriver Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, December 2, 2024 from 10:00am to 11:00am. Memorials may be made out to Putnam County Care Center and mail to Thomas Funeral Home 303 E.
