Jimmie Bill Clark's Obituary
Jimmie Bill Clark was born in Centerville, IA on August 6th,1949 to Ned Ronald and Ruth Mae (Holland) Clark of Mystic, where he was born and raised. He passed away June 16th, 2025 at Southern Hills Memory Care in Osceola, IA after a long battle with Alzheimer's.
Jimmie was united in marriage to Rosemary Kay Hurley on Sept 21,1968 in Graysville, MO and to this union three daughters, Tammy, Tracey and Tonya were born. Jim and Rose later divorced after 40 yrs.
Jimmie was a jack of all trades and did odd jobs for many people in the area. He was flipping houses before it became a popular thing and lived in many houses in Mystic. He talked fondly of his years hauling propane for Clark Thermogas. Jimmie also spent time as an employee for the City of Mystic and 20 yrs as a maintainer operator for Appanoose County Secondary Roads. His full-time work career ended as a maintenance man at GACC.
In his younger years Jimmie was likely to hit foul balls during a game of baseball and be a little hard on the windows of the Mystic School. All the grandkids, nieces and nephews had to always be ready when Jimmie was around as they were sure to receive a "wet willie", which he enjoyed giving but not so much when he received them. Jimmie also spent time working on cars and doing demolition derbies with Carl and Paul Jay. There was never a doubt when Jimmie Bill left Mystic, in his always shiny truck, as he loved sharing the sound of his rumbling exhaust with everyone as he crossed the tracks and headed up the hill. Great enjoyment was had by Jimmie and the grandsons when they went fishing, hunting and riding his trusty mower. Jimmie took great pride in the appearance of his vehicles, yard and home, always done his way of course! You could always find him wearing his blue, gray or black pocket t-shirt with his Walmart Jeans and English leather cologne. He also had a gift to ruin a day when you wanted your windows open with his trusty burn barrel. The grandkids knew grandpa always had his pocket full of candy and was quick to send them home with a snack he bought that he didn't like as he was sure they would like it. He was always offering you a bite of something, and was positive it was the best thing he had eaten, and you would love it too. He was persistent in you trying it so you may as well have a bite and tell him it was great, or the fork would be in your face until you did. Jimmie had the best snack pantry in southern Iowa, but please do not get anything out of there, as that was for his work lunch box, which was full enough to feed several people. Later, as his health declined. You would find Jimmie driving his mower where he wanted to go as he liked to hang out at Joe's Quick Shop with all the people he knew. Jimmie loved a good joke and was known for trying to hand his grandkids his false teeth which would startle them. Jimmie was not a fan of being scared himself, and if you did, he had a couple of his famous colorful phrases he would share with you.
Jimmie is survived by Tammy Deputy and Tonya (Tim) Swan of Corydon; grandchildren, Courtney Deputy (Aviv Shemesh) of Kenner, Louisiana, Wyatt Deputy (Chelsey Spurgeon) of Centerville, IA, Britni McCarty, Gannon, Gage, Brynlee and Bristyn of Corydon, IA; one sister, Carol Drake (Larry) of Exline, IA; a special cousin, Carl Clark (Evelyn) of Mystic, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Tracey Kay Clark; grandchild, GT Swan; parents, Ned and Ruth Clark; brothers, Ronnie, Richard, Gary, David and Alan Clark; and sisters, Claudia Harris and Cynthia Clark.
Jimmie's brain has been donated to the Harvard Brain Institute so that others may be helped.
