Jim Scott 73, of Montezuma formerly of Centerville passed away Thursday, March 12, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Jim was born to Jasper and Icle (Milburn) Scott on December 23, 1935 in Rathbun, Iowa. He owned and operated Jims Uptown for many years just off the Centerville square. He also owned & operated Jim's Auctioneering Service. Jim was a member of Ducks Unlimited, National Auctioneering Association, the National Rifle Association and a former member of the Church of the Nazarene in Centerville. He enjoyed auctioneering, hunting, fishing, telling stories, gardening and time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Jim is survived by four children: Connie Lynn Scott of Phoenix, Arizona, Gary Curtis Scott (Teresa) of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Stephen Scott (Diedra) of Owasso, Oklahoma, Robin Bazyn (Jim) of Montezuma, Iowa, ten grandchildren: Amanda Johnson (David) of Broken Arrow, OK, Zach Scott of Broken Arrow, OK, Brooke Torrey (Brent) of Webb City, MO, James Scott of Silverdale, WA, Matthew Bradley of Norman, OK, Conner Bradley of Owasso, Ok, Kayla Houser of Montezuma, IA, Vanessa Houser of Montezuma, IA, Jamie Wille (Nick) of Belle Plaine, IA, Kyle Bazyn of Victor, Iowa, two great grandchildren: Siena Wille of Belle Plaine, IA, Hunter Bazyn of Victor, IA, five brothers; Bill Scott (Dolly) of Davenport, IA, Paul Scott (April) of Pueblo, CO, John Scott (Rita) of Enon, OH, Dan Scott (Bev) of Tipton, IA, Mike Scott of Reno, NV and one sister; Rachel Britt (Kenny) of Goodyear, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers; Bob, Teddy and Don Scott. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Walter King officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 1-6 p.m. with the family present from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Haines Cemetery.
