Jewell Kirkpatrick's Obituary
Jewell Ellen Kirkpatrick, 97, of Centerville passed away, Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Centerville Specialty Care. Jewell was born to Pearl & Dorpha (Gale) Davis on April 18, 1920 in Moulton. She received her education from Moulton Schools, graduating in 1938. Jewell would continue her education attending American Beauty Academy in Ottumwa. On December 29, 1945, Jewell was united in marriage to Jerry Kirkpatrick. To this union came two children, James and Jerry. Jewell worked as a homemaker, creating a warm, loving home for her children and grandchildren. She was a force in the kitchen, with a specialty in creating sweets and baked goods. Visitors benefited from Jewell's culinary skills, as she insisted on feeding all who walked through her door. Family get togethers always included her laughter ringing out from the kitchen. Jewell also worked as a beautician throughout her life. Jewell enjoyed time spent with her family, volunteering at the Evangelical Covenant Church, PEO, Eastern Star, winters in Las Vegas, working in her flower beds and gardening and supporting her children and grandchildren through many school activities and sporting events. Survivors include her children: James Kirkpatrick (Sondra), Jerry Kirkpatrick (Becky), grandchildren: Jeremy Kirkpatrick (Jen), Jill Kirkpatrick, Josh Kauffman (Amelia), Jason Kauffman (Jessi), Drew Kirkpatrick (Ashton), Conner Kirkpatrick (Julia Staheli), great grandchildren: Tyler Kirkpatrick, Lauren Kirkpatrick, Jaxon Kirkpatrick and numerous extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Kirkpatrick and brothers: Raymond, Francis, James and Joe Davis. Celebration of Life will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with Rev. Shurmaine McAlpine officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior from 1-2:00 pm. Interment will take place at Oakland Cemetery in Centerville. Memorials may be given to Centerville Garden Club and condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com.
