Jessie I. Sylvester, age 89, of Centerville, Iowa, died Monday, January 2, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville. She was born the daughter of Andrew and Nellie (Hynd) Elswick on February 16, 1916 in Albia, Iowa. She received her education in a Rural Monroe County School.On September 25, 1937, Jessie was united in marriage to Clarence 'Larry' Sylvester in Albia, Iowa. She worked for over 17 years at the Trophy Glove Factory in Albia as a Seamstress. Jessie was a member of First Christian Church and CWF both in Albia.She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Larry Sylvester in 1973; brothers, Wilber, Add, Earnest, Loren Elswick and on infant brother; sisters, Pearl Polson, Nellie Polson, Helen Stites and Grace Serbanic.Jessie is survived by: daughters, Donna and her husband, Jerry Raymie of Knoxille, Iowa and Sharon and her husband, Larry Bettis of Centerville, Iowa; son, Richard and his wife, Donna Sylvester of Hillsboro, Missouri; 8 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on January 4, 2006 at 10:30 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Larry Bettis officiating. Burial will follow at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery north of Moravia, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2006 from 1 pm till 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home with the family present from 6 pm till 8 pm at the funeral home.Memorial can be made to the CWF at the First Christian Church in Albia and can be mailed to the To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Jessie I.
