Jerry Sindt, Sr.'s Obituary
Jerry Sindt Sr., age 80, of Centerville, passed away December 24, 2024 at MercyOne in Centerville surrounded by his family.
Jerry was born on July 13, 1944 in Davenport, Iowa to Albert and Gladys (Olson) Sindt. Jerry married Reatta Coffman on March 13, 1970 and together they had five children: Jodi, Jerry Jr., John, Katrina, and Debra. Jerry loved raising his children with Reatta.
Throughout life Jerry worked at the Meadow Lane Dairy in Davenport, Craver's Body Shop, along with Blackhawk Foundry and Franks Foundry, Frank's is actually where he met Reatta. After moving to Centerville he worked his way along to open his own welding shop.
He was very good at building things from nothing, including a truck that he and Reatta build from 5 different vehicles, and got it to run. He loved all sorts of hunting and spending time with his grandkids, especially being in the shop with his grandson Jerren fixing anything they could. He could be found most mornings at McDonalds sipping on his tea.
Jerry is survived by his children, Jodi Sindt and Jerry Sindt Jr.; siblings, Lucille Dipple, Janice Estabrook, Sandy (Fred) Fisher, Cindy Sindt, Larry (Jackie) Sindt, Gale (Debbie) Sindt, Albert "Obby" (Linda) Sindt, Lyle Sindt, Danny Sindt, Ervin (Sheila) Sindt; grandchildren, Jeremiah Morrow, Jerren Long, Kevin Sindt, Julie Morrow, Justin Long, Emilee Long, Levi Long, Lindsey Terrell, Ryan Sindt, Chase Whicker, Emily Smith, and Danielle Terrell; great-grandchildren, Nolan, Huxley, Kaydence, Adeline, Landon, Addison, Zoie, Brianna, Emeree, and Bryson; as well as many numerous extended family and friends.
Jerry is preceded in death by his wife of over 54 years, Reatta; his parents, Albert and Gladys Sindt; his children, John Sindt, Katrina Farless, and Debra Sindt; in-laws Plaz and Mamie May Coffman; siblings, Alan Sindt, Warney Sindt, Dean Sindt, Wayne Sindt, Kenneth Sindt, and Rosemary Dipple.
Visitation services will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024 from 1:00PM-2:00PM at the Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024 at 2:00PM with interment following at the Salem Cemetery- Udell.
