Jerry Sandstrom's Obituary
Rudy "Jerry" Jerome Sandstrom, age 72, of Moravia, Iowa passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2020.
Jerry was born on April 1, 1948 in Enderlin, North Dakota, the son of Rudolph Hjalmer Sandstrom and Marion Lorraine (Eidsvig) Sandstrom Diallesandro. He graduated from Fargo South High School in Fargo, North Dakota. On April 5, 1968, Jerry enlisted in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged on November 13, 1968.
After serving in the military, Jerry attended North Dakota State University and Moorhead State University, receiving his Bachelors degree. He then attended Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, Minnesota, obtaining his Doctorate in Chiropractic. He was a chiropractor for 38 years until his retirement.
On February 23, 1993, Jerry was united in marriage to Judy Kay Lockman.
Jerry was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Fargo, North Dakota for many years. In his youth, he was active in many groups including being a lifeguard and an Eagle Scout. He was also a musician in a 1950s band playing several instruments.
Left to honor Jerrys memory are his wife of 27 years, Judy Sandstrom of Moravia; his sister, Deborah (Bruce) Livingood of West Fargo, North Dakota; sisters in law, Vicky (Dennis) Strickler and Cindy (Tim) Penfield; nephews, Jason Livingood, Brett Livingood, Bradley Livingood, Andrew Sandstrom; and a niece, Cassandra Slone; along with several other nieces, nephews, and numerous extended family.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Marion Sandstrom; in laws, Bill and Shirley Lockman Brooke; maternal grandparents, John and Reidun Eidsvig; paternal grandparents, Gust and Tina Sandstrom; and a great niece, Christiana Sandstrom.
Graveside services with military rites will be held at 11:00AM, Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Moravia with Pastor Christy Ehrle officiating. Memorials have been established to Judy Sandstrom, to be determined at a later date, and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
