Jerry L. Lowe's Obituary
Jerry L. Lowe age 76, of Centerville, Iowa passed away Sunday, August 11, 2024 at his home surrounded by his wife and sons.
Jerry was born on November 12, 1947, the son of Jean Lowe in Iowa City, Iowa. He graduated from Moulton-Udell High School with the Class of 1965. After high school, he continued his education at a universal trade school learning mechanic work. He married the love of his life, Sheila Kae Kirby on July 10, 1966, and they spent 58 blissful years together. To this union, two sons were born, Todd and Shannon.
On May 3, 1967, he joined the United States Army National Guard. He served his country faithfully, and was honorably discharged on September 19, 1972.
Jerry loved working with his hands. He was an amazing woodworker, liked rebuilding old Ford tractors, making things out of stained glass, and spending time in the garden. He was busy all the time, and liked it that way. He was always willing to lend out a helping hand, even if he barely knew you, seeing other people happy, made him happy. Jerry retired from UPS as the plant engineer after working for them for 27 years.
Left to honor Jerry's memory are his wife, Sheila; sons, Todd Lowe and Shannon Lowe; granddaughter, Jamie Trichel; brothers, Rob Christensen, Jack Yates, and Tim Yates; sister, Janice Hoyle; as well as several extended family and friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Lowe-Yates; and stepfather, Gene Yates.
Per wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at 11AM Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Sunset View cemetery in Moulton, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Furever Friends of Appanoose Inc., and may be mailed to Thomas Funeral Home, ATTN: Lowe Family, 501 North 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
