Jerry Llanes' Obituary
Jerry Llanes, age 65 of Unionville, Iowa died Saturday June 30, 2012 at the Davis County Hospital, Bloomfield, Iowa .
Jerry was born April 6, 1947 in Corpus Christi, TX, the son of Tony and Felitas (Aguilar) Llanes. He married Janet Llanes on July 24, 1964. Jerry was a millwright and carpenter and had worked for Newell Construction in Eddyville, Iowa. Earlier in his career, when he was living in California, he had his real estate license and sold real estate. When Jerry was young he loved to dance and play golf. Jerry loved teaching his grandkids about the outdoors, hunting, fishing and telling jokes. He was a Boy Scout when he was young and at age 18, made Sergeant in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He loved animals and raised cockatoos, parakeets and horses; he only spoke Spanish to the animals and they understood him.
Jerry is survived by his wife Janet of Unionville, IA; 3 children Theresa (Anthony) Vareia of Waurika, OK, Jerry L. (Shelley) llanes of Knoxville, Iowa, Celita Llanes and fiancAC. Chris Tobeck of Unionville, 12 grandchildren Michael Llanes, Cody Wey, Sara Jones, Amanda Llanes, Jerry Jr. Llanes, Jimmy Torrez, Felicia Torrez, Cecilia Torrez, Jesse Torrez, Jayson Knowles, Ryan Knowles, Evan Knowles, Ariana Tobeck, McKenna Tobeck; 4 great grand children, 6 brothers: Tony, Leonard Tony Jr., Vincent, Emanuel, Paul, Frank, and 5 sisters, Mary Lopez, Lupe Llanes, Claudia Berra, Maria Hanus and Janie Rogalski.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held 4 PM Thursday, July 5, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Centerville with Fr. Bill Hubimann officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday from 1-4 PM at the Lange Funeral Home and Crematory, Centerville. Burial with full military rites will be in the Taylor Cemetery, east of Unionville, Iowa. A memorial has been established to the Taylor Cemetery and may be left at the funeral home. Condolences may be left at www.langefh.com
