Grandpa you have always been the man I always wanted to marry as you were such a kind man. Never did u ever be negative, you were always so happy and positive. You were the best grandpa a gal could have. You always showed me to be kind and treat people well. You always thought I was so great in sports and I was an all-star but really Grandpa you are the true Star 🌟 You loved everyone the same. You would always sing in car with me as a young girl (hey, hey good lookin) by Hank Williams. You loved making ice cream with your grandkids. You always made time for your family. Fishing was the best with Grandpa. You will always be missed. I am so thankful for the 40 years God let me borrow you. It's never good-bye...when I see you again. Forever love. Amanda

Not only were you my great grandpa, but you were also my best friend. You taught me that there was good in everyone and to always be patient with others. Throughout the years we created many memories together that I will never forget. You always had a smile on your face and often times stated you were always ornery. You were a great husband, father, grandpa, and best friend. I will never forget all of our car rides out to the parks, our ice cream dates, or our deep talks. I'll miss you askong me about how school was going, but I know you will be by my side to watch me everyday now. I love and miss you so much ❤️
Shirley, you are in my thoughts and prayers. You and Jerry also are in my most early memories, like a second pair of parents. I have such wonderful memories of being with Jerry in the park, riding in the ranger's truck, as he cared for the land and the people enjoying it. As I've aged, I recognize more the life lessons he was teaching me by through his actions -- the way he showed kindness to others, the way he enjoyed laughing, singing, and sharing joy with others, the way he cared for natural resources, and made certain his work was done right.In recent years, I've enjoyed our phone conversations. He shared his military memories as I prepared for my deployment to Iraq. We laughed through memories of our times together in the Palisades State Park.I knew this day would come but I am woefully unprepared to say goodbye to my wonderful friend. I'm thankful to have been his friend and for the memories he created for me and others.
This man wasn't just my grandpa..he was my best friend. He was the most patient, gentle, kind person I've ever met met. He never got angry or raised his voice. He saw the good in everyone and never had an unkind thing to say..he was as close to a saint as you can get. I always aspired to be just like him..but I always fell short. He taught me everything I know basically (he had me working in the wood shop and learning trades at a very young age) he always made time for me as a child and even as an adult. He was the same way to my daughter...there is no other way to describe him except...the best. Grandpa I love you and I miss you very much already. It's gonna be tough without you. Till I see you again hero..
